Challenges

Stanford SpineKeeper is a project we are exceptionally proud of. Stanford University reached out to us with a concept aimed at studying spine-related issues and providing recommendations to enhance spine health.

The primary objective was to conduct research by collecting data from users over 28 days. By monitoring their activities, we could analyze the information to suggest personalized solutions and compile a comprehensive research report on spine health.

Responsibilities

We were tasked with building the Stanford SpineKeeper app from scratch, guided by a simple yet brilliant UI/UX design.

Our initial phase involved thorough research. Our team recommended using ResearchKit, an open-source framework for medical research, and CareKit, an open-source framework for managing health by tracking symptoms and activities.

These frameworks, combined with HealthKit, were used to store and analyze user data.

A core feature of the app was enabling users to complete a survey via ResearchKit and receive a 28-day plan of solutions to improve their spine health.

Users could track their progress by marking daily suggested activities. After 28 days, with user consent, the data was shared with the Stanford research team to study spine health.

This project provided our mobile team with valuable experience and a steep learning curve in implementing new open-source frameworks.
